New Daddy

Wow! Is there anything better than being a father? As you may know, my wife and I have recently become parents. Carli Grace Vanderburg was born on May 8th, just four days after my birthday and two days after my wife’s birthday. It is an amazing experience. She is perfect! Yes, the first few weeks are hard without sleep. As a matter of fact, sleep is usually only referred to in the past tense. It is something you once did a long time ago. Coffee also becomes your best friend, or anything with caffeine. I don’t mind because sleep is a crutch. It is for the weak! Ok, I’m lying. I love to sleep, but I love my daughter even more. She makes it all worth it. She is doing much better now anyway. She is starting to sleep through the night. She can hold her head up like a champ, and she is smiling. This isn’t the, “I have gas,” smile either. She has started talking to us too! She makes lots of sounds like; AAAAaawwweeewwaaaGggAAaaa! Basically it translates into, “I love you daddy.” Lindsay might tell you differently, but I am pretty sure that is what it means. So in case you’re wondering what the answer to the question I asked at the beginning of this post is. No, there is nothing greater than being a father.

Welcome to my first and possibly last blog

For those who know me, you realize that this is a big step in my life. I hardly ever (never) talk on IM (does anyone still use that), MSN messenger, write on people's Facebook Wall, or contribute to any other type of global Internet chat. Don't get me wrong! I have accounts to all of these sites, I just don't use them. I shouldn't say that! I am the type of person that likes to remain in the background. I get on every now and then to check on the status of my friends lives. They may think that I have vanished from existence, but really I am busy or just plain lazy when it comes to writing responses to every post or message from people. I am more of a phone guy. I would rather someone call me if they need something or just want give the occasional "shout-out". And if they don't know my number, then it probably means that we are not as good of friends as those who do. In this case, you would be lucky to get a response because, as I stated earlier, I rarely even respond to those who I do consider good friends. Anyway, for those of you who are excited for me and my attempt to share my life with the whole world, don't be. There is a very likely chance that this will be my only post and my blog site will remain an empty void, like many of my accounts.
